My
Cancer Trek
aka
The Tokyo Roast

On 11/10/06, at age 59,  I found that I had       prostate cancer.
As the most common cancer in men, it kills 15% of those who get it.
My case, a most uncommon one, led me to Tokyo.
I hope my story can help others.

You Gotta Laugh

On Sunday night Mary Anne and I were walking back to our hotel from a restaurant in Nara.  We were talking about some work and reading I wanted to get accomplished while here.  Without thinking she blurted out, “you’ll have a lot of dead time in the hospital.”

This was so gross and much funnier to everyone else than it was to me.  The nurse was having me do a variety of things and at one point handed me a thermometer.  I took it and stuck it in my mouth.  Her eyes bugged as she said loudly said no, no, no.  She pointed to her underarm which is where it was supposed to be placed.  As Margie, Mary Anne and two nurses laughed I wondered how many underarms it had been in since its last cleaning.
